Aequorea 2016 Pinot Noir Seafarer
Aequorea 2016 Pinot Noir Seafarer
Aequorea 2016 Pinot Noir Seafarer

As always, Seafarer is the only vineyard blend Pinot Noir I produce, bringing together fruit from all my coastal sites. The goal is to create a wine that is more about overall texture and depth than individual site expression. Based largely around Greengate Ranch (Edna Valley) and Spanish Springs (Pismo Beach), with smaller amouts of Riven Rock (Cambria) and Derby (San Simeon). Fermented entirely with native yeasts, most lots with some stem inclusion or whole cluster for added spice. Aged 10 months in 30% new French oak. The Seafarer is more perfumed in 2016, brimming with spicy raspberry, cranberry, and black cherry notes along with dried herbs, pine, and rose notes. Juicy and generous up front, the wine then broadens mid-palate and lends warm spices, toasty oak, cinnamon stick and gravelly tannins.

Aaron began in 2002 with a focus on producing powerful, age-worthy wines from the rugged hillsides of westside Paso Robles. Always seeking to veer from the norm, we found inspiration in creating blends that centered around one of California's greatest grapes — Petite Sirah. Utilizing vineyards from the most amazing sites our boots could find, we source intense yet balanced fruit from the Willow Creek, Adelaida, and Templeton Gap districts. From these sites we coax this massively structured varietal (along with Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot) into a portfolio of unique cuvees that evoke our best expression of westside Paso Robles terrior.
