Domaine Marc Roy 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Burgundy
The Domaine Marc Roy Gevrey-Chambertin ‘Vieilles Vignes’ is made from 70+ year-old vines. It is elegant and structured displaying red fruit and floral notes. Alexandrine Roy’s light touch with vinification results in remarkably pure, supple, and gorgeously silky wines; she destems 100% and uses oak conservatively and cherishes purity and elegance above power.
The nose is powerful, with a great concentration of red berries and earthiness. The taste is lively, delivering a great weight on the palate, framed by a delicious minerality. It can be matched with charcuterie, barbecued beef and cheeses. It shows well in its youth and can benefit from being cellared between four to ten years.
James Suckling - 91 Points
"From a parcel of 80-year-old vines, this has a very fresh and gently spicy nose with some roasted-game and bright red-cherry aromas, as well as a gently leafy edge. The palate has a very fresh, bright and refined texture with a sleek, juicy and even-paced feel that holds long, fresh and elegant. Drink or hold."
