Morlet 2014 Passionnement Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Morlet 2014 Passionnement Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Morlet 2014 Passionnement Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Dark purple. Intense and complex bouquet of red, black and blue berries intermixed with notes of blueberries, Crème de Cassis, plum, cedar and a hint of cedar and cigar box. Full bodied, the palate is reminiscent of the nose, with a creamy texture and a great intensity. The luscious tannins, the intense aromatic complexity and its opulence create a flamboyant yet harmonious ensemble, leading to a very long, complex and smooth finish. This early charming and collectible wine represents the passionate, uncompromised and on-going pursuit of quality. Passionnement features the close interaction of both bench and hillside manicured vineyards, Morlet winemaking style and the very best of what Napa Valley and Knights Valley have to offer. It is simply the ‘ne plus ultra’ of the Morlet wine production.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 95 Points
"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Passionnement is a relatively small cuvée of 250 cases from Oakville. Sweet tannin, a seamless entry on the palate, an opaque ruby/purple color and a big kiss of crème de cassis, blackberry, scorched earth and burning embers is followed by a wine with a long finish, moderate tannin and surprising intensity and power for a 2014. Drink it over the next 30 years."

James Suckling - 94 Points
"A very refined and beautiful texture with currants, berries and spices. Hints of vanilla. Lovely juicy finish. Needs time to come together. Very racy and refined."

Morlet Wines
Luc & Jodie Morlet produce vineyard designated wines and unique cuvées of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Sémillon with Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle from Sonoma County as well as Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley. Meticulously farmed vineyards and low-intervention winemaking techniques produce powerful yet refined wines.

By taking old world principles and adapting them to California, the Morlet style results in wines which are harmonious in their intensity, richness, complexity and refinement. It is this notion of harmony that inspired their label logo, based upon 19th century French artist Mathurin Moreau’s sculpture entitled, ‘L’Harmonie’. Handcrafted, the Morlet wines clearly display personality, seamless character and graceful ageing capability.

The core of the Morlets’ endeavor is the eight-acre vineyard they planted on the Knights Valley bench, near Calistoga and facing the western slopes of Mount St. Helena. In addition to these family acres, they direct the farming under long-term contract on seven acres in the Sonoma Coast, Bennett Valley and Dry Creek as well as five acres in Oakville, Napa Valley. In St. Helena, near the family home, the wines are crafted and matured in a naturally cool cave, which was drilled into the volcanic rock. The production is limited to what they can make with their own hands.

Sold in the spring and the fall of each year through an online mailing list offering and in fine restaurants around the world, the Morlet wines are served at the most prestigious tables and are shared by wine connoisseurs and collectors.
