David Arthur 2014 Elevation 1147 Cabernet Sauvignon
Our 2014 Elevation 1147 has an intensely deep ruby color with a violet rim that offers an immense array of aromas from wild blackberry, cassis, followed by licorice candy, brown sugar notes, cocoa nibs and hints of black tea as well as garrigue of sage-mint. The palate is rich, yet soft and plush offering polished tannins that are broad and chewy carrying into a long finish with flavors of blackberry, dark cherry and light baking spices. Best from 2017 to 2037.

"Named for the producer's high-elevation on Pritchard Hill, this is 100% varietal from one clone, aged in a wealth of French oak. Juicy, extracted berry flavor (both red and black) make it expansive on the palate, with elements of cocoa powder, sage, crushed rock and gravel adding intrigue and invitation. The tannins are sweet and polished. Age a bit and enjoy 2024–2034."

"Aromas of tar, blackcurrants and blackberries follow through to a full body with tight and velvety tannins and a pretty fruit and walnut undertone on the finish. Stone/slate highlights, too. Very polished and well defined. Give it three to four years to soften. Another red from here for the cellar."
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 95 Points
"The flagship wine, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Elevation 1147, is all Cabernet Sauvignon compared to the Old Vine, which is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Petit Verdot, and the Three Acre that is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with 2% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This is pedal-to-the-metal, seriously endowed, full-throttle Cabernet Sauvignon from Pritchard Hill. Chocolate, crème de cassis, incense, graphite and earth make for a complex, multidimensional set of aromatics. Full-bodied, round, juicy and, like so many 2014s, already showing complexity and easy appeal. This full-bodied, layered and rich Cabernet Sauvignon should drink well for another 20-25 years, but there is no reason to defer gratification."
Decanter - 93 Points
"From a high elevation site on Pritchard Hill, the David Arthur 1147 boasts a nose of smoky black fruit, pencil shavings and spice. Firm but fine tannins and appreciable concentration betray its mountain origins, but the wine is also nicely balanced and harmonious."
